Brother Travis grew up in a family with two sisters and no brothers. At least before Gamma-Tau. Prior to starting his junior year he had a conversation with his father, who suggested he consider joining a fraternity. “You’re going to be an alumnus for a lot longer than you will be an undergrad. You will want those contacts and relationships when you graduate,” he advised. As the saying goes, Father knows best. Kip rushed Gamma-Tau and has been involved with the chapter ever since. As an undergraduate he held the office of Grand Procurator.
After graduation he enrolled in graduate school as well as ROTC. He served two years active duty as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. He returned to Colorado in 1976 and began two endeavors which have each lasted 30+ years; he started with Merrill Lynch in Denver and joined the Gamma-Tau House Corporation.
He has been with Merrill Lynch for 33 years now, and is currently a Vice President. He has spent his entire career with Merrill Lynch based in Denver, worked as a Retail Financial Advisor, focusing on individual investors rather than corporations. He was a frequent member of the Charles E. Merrill Circle, which recognizes outstanding performance of ML employees.
Brother Travis has also been active within the community. He is a current board member, and past board President of the Saint Francis Center, a shelter for homeless men which sees some 600-800 guests per day. He has also served on the Finance Committee for the Colorado-Haiti Project and is active in his church, the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Centennial.
As a Gamma-Tau, he served as an Alumnus Advisor for four years in the mid-to-late 70s and sat on the House Corporation board until 2007.
Reflecting on what Gamma-Tau has meant to him, Kip responded, “Gamma-Tau is responsible for helping form friendships that lasted well beyond my college years. It provided the core of my closest, dearest friends. An organization that creates and nurtures those relationships deserves a thank you and is worthy of our support as alumni, so that today’s brothers can enjoy the same opportunities that Gamma-Tau has provided to us.”
