Roger Beahm ’68

From his upbringing in Colorado, Roger Beahm’s life and work has taken him through the University of Colorado, Gamma-Tau, and on to being chairman of Coyne Beahm Shouse, Inc., a marketing firm in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Roger pledged Gamma-Tau in 1967, and gained lifelong friends from then on. While at Gamma-Tau, Roger was a Pledge Trainer as well as the Grand Treasurer.

Academically, at the University of Colorado, Roger shined. He completed his BS in Business in 1971, and a year later had finished his Master of Business Administration. While at CU, Roger was on the Dean’s List and the President’s List. He was also on the Advisory Council on Consumer Affairs (student representative) for the American Bankers Association. Roger was a teaching assistant in classes such as Business Administration, Statistics, and International Finance.

After college, Roger has kept his academic interests by being a Marketing Chair and Emeritus Member of the Business Advisory Council for CU’s Leeds School of Business. He is also on the Marketing Committee for the Business Advisory Council for Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business; he is also a Distinguished CEO Lecturer at the same school.

Since his time with Gamma-Tau, and at the University of Colorado, Roger has worked for a number of large companies doing a variety of marketing. He worked for the Procter and Gamble Company as a Brand Manager. He then worked as a Marketing Manager in Canada for The Clorox Company. Roger has also been the Vice President of Marketing for Kayser-Roth Corporation and then for Glendinning Associates. He has since moved to Chairman of the marketing company, Coyne Beahm Shouse, Inc.

He has been recognized professionally with Addy and Telly Awards for Advertising Creativity and Excellence. He is the Chairman for the Carolinas Council of the American Association of Advertising Agencies. He is also is an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at Wake Forest University.

Outside his professional career, Roger still finds time to donate much of his time to his community. He has been recognized at the State Volunteer of the Year by United Way of North Carolina. He is also President of the Old North State Council of the Boy Scouts of America, as well as a Bible study leader at Westover Church in Greensboro.

Roger said that Gamma-Tau and Kappa Sigma as a whole has created life-long friendships for him as well as some of his life’s best memories, including playing keyboard for The Urge (his fraternity rock band).

Roger currently lives in Greensboro, North Carolina with his wife, Wendy. Roger and Wendy have four children, Jennifer (28), Elizabeth (28), Christopher (25), and Michael (20).
